Trade Policy Analyst

About

Jacob Auer joined the BCI Seattle office in July of 2026 as a Trade Policy Analyst. In this role, he supports the Global Access team by monitoring and analyzing changes to World Trade Organization and foreign government regulatory policies pertaining to pesticide maximum residue levels.

Prior to joining BCI, Jacob served as a Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), helping to advance USAID’s global food security, environmental sustainability, and agricultural development programs. This involved conducting policy research, synthesizing and analyzing data for project design, and co-leading a global learning and evidence exchange. 

In 2021, Jacob was awarded the Donald M. Payne International Development Fellowship. Through this program, he conducted an overseas internship with the USAID Economic Growth team at the U.S. Embassy in Conakry, Guinea as well as a congressional internship in the office of his U.S. Representative.

Jacob earned his Master of Science degree in International Agricultural Development from the University of California, Davis, and Bachelor of Science degree in Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering from Oklahoma State University.
