About
Nicolas Schell joined BCI’s Seattle office in August 2026 as a Research Analyst on the Research and Information Services team, bringing analytical and quantitative research skills and written analysis experience to support BCI and its clients. His work primarily focuses on monitoring and producing BCI's regulatory newsletter, the BCI Monitor, analyzing global regulatory and trade issues, and supporting the firm's trade regulatory databases.
Prior to joining BCI, Nicolas interned at the Jacksonville Urban League’s Center for Advocacy and Justice, where he tracked legislative and regulatory matters and prepared written analysis and recommendations for senior staff. He also interned at the Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Washington, cataloging Japanese-language materials and conducting grant research.
Nicolas holds Bachelor degrees in Economics and Political Science from the University of Washington. As an undergraduate, he conducted independent research on international trade and labor markets at Hitotsubashi University in Tokyo, working throughout with Japanese language government databases, and holds JLPT N2 certification in Japanese.
